The Soloveiko Songbird Trail

1. Mann Island - Crimea

This Soloveiko arrived from Crimea - the southern most part of Ukraine. Known for its beauty, Crimea contains gorgeous landscapes of cliffs, beautiful clear waters and stunning architecture steeped with historical signficance.

4. Liverpool Pier Head St Nicholas Place - Kharkiv

This Soloveiko traveled to EuroFest from Kharkiv, so is no stranger to a lively environment! Kharkiv is the second largest city of Ukraine, with a stunning variety of architecture that blends together to capture the hearts of tourists. A city of rich heritage and culture mixing new and old, the city is home to talented artists and performers.

7. Bluecoat - East of Ukraine

This Soloveiko came from East Ukraine, a gorgeous area of natural landscapes as well as farms and fields growing produce that goes to all corners of the world. Here the culture is influenced by the natural conditions of the area - hard sun and the winds influence the rhythm of folksongs through a strong and lengthened projection of sound.

10. Liverpool Parish Church Gardens - Chernihiv

This Soloveiko flew over from North Ukraine, Chernihiv. Founded at the end of the 7th century, Chernihiv is one of the most historic cities the country has to offer. It may seem like you have time traveled thanks to the cobblestone streets that have stood the test of time that lead to incredible timeless cathedrals and monuments.

2. Liverpool Parish Church Gardens - Northwest of Ukraine

This Soloveiko flew over from the northwest of Ukraine. Known for its mythological influences, this area celebrates the creatures that originate from ancient mythologies, stories and folklore that hide in the forest and lure you with their songs.

5. Hartley Quay Royal Albert Dock - Kyiv

This Soloveiko traveled from the proud capital of Ukraine. Filled with theatres, museums, religious sites, and modern buildings; the city of Kyiv is the centre of Ukrainian culture. With World Heritage Sites including The Monastery of the Caves, founded in 1015, and Saint Sophia Cathedral, founded in 1037, as well as historical museums and theatres, there’s a reason many flock to Kyiv to get their culture fix!

8. Royal Albert Dock Gower Street - Central Ukraine

This Soloveiko came from central Ukraine, where innovation and ancient ways of life co-exist with harmony. Here you will find Kryvyi Rih city, the pride of Ukraine's mining industry. Kryvyi Rih Basin has been excavated for iron ore since the time of the Scythians. There are areas here reddened by oxidized iron ore which get referred to as Mars.

11. Mann Island Atrium - Lviv

This Soloveiko arrived from the colourful Lyiv city, a charming old town filled with interesting architecture and beautiful landmarks including Lyiv Opera House and Lyiv City Hall. For those who love good food and music, Lyiv has a rich scene that allows you to hop from one place to another, or you can just stand still and enjoy the street musicians!

3. Liverpool ONE - Chavasse Park - Odesa

Flying from Odesa, this Soloveiko reflects the charm of Odesa’s seaside views and rich culture. As the third most populous city of Ukraine it is known to be the place where locals know how to throw a good party!

6. Liverpool ONE Thomas Steer’s Way - The Ukrainian Carpathians

This Soloveiko flew over from the highest mountain range in Ukraine, over charming villages and untouched wilderness to be part of EuroFestival. The Carpathians is known for popular tourist routes that lead to brooks and lakes. Here the music is lively and played on traditional instruments that inspire dance and celebrations.

9. St George’s Hall - Donetsk Region

This Soloveiko flew over from the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine. This region is under the occupation of Russia, with cities almost completely destroyed. The Soloveiko sings of grief and hope, with a style from Donbas folk music characterised by melancholy and nostalgia.

12. Liverpool Lime Street Station - South of Ukraine

 This Soloveiko came from the South of Ukraine, another region steeped in rich history and natural beauty. With stunning beaches and rivers, this area is also known for the Cossacks - meaning ‘adventurer’ or ‘free man’, a military group known for their bravery and combat skills.
